Samsung is back at it again. The South Korean multinational conglomerate has confirmed it will launch the Galaxy S9 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. The event is scheduled to be on Sunday, February 25th. Samsung announced that it will start handling pre-orders on March 1st. They also set March 16th as the final shipping and distribution date.

All this news was delivered through the company’s official Twitter handle.

Leaked promotional material has finally put to bed all rumors surrounding the device. From the material, we can tell that the device will feature a 5.7-inch Infinity Display, a fingerprint sensor, and a stereo speaker setup.

The tech community wasted no time as renders of the Galaxy S9 surfaced a few hours after Samsung previewed it’s Over the Horizon ringtone. The flagship handset is set to come packed with the revamped ringtone. On Valentines, Samsung released three teasers of the phone in its native country. Although they were relatively short, the teasers showcased the new camera and 3D emoji’s.

While scouring the internet, respectable mobile reviewers have confirmed that the phone will come in a new exciting color; Lilac purple. The Galaxy S9 launch will also see Samsung unveil the Samsung Galaxy S9+. The distinguishing feature from what we can tell of the two phones will be the camera setup.  The S9 will come equipped with a single snapper, while the S9+ will get a dual camera setup. Both flagship phones will be capable of shooting video in super slow motion. Samsung confirmed that this will be the phone’s standout feature.

Samsung aims to stay ahead of Apple (biggest competitor) by equipping the S9 with the headphone jack. Samsung will also debut its ‘DeX Pad’ on the phone.

Design wise not much change is expected from Samsung as the Galaxy S9 is expected to resemble the S8. A quick look at the S9 specs.
