The National Society of Certified Healthcare Business Consultants has just released a new webinar on the 21st Century Cures Act and information blocking.
Go to https://nschbc.org/news for more details.
This latest announcement will help educate you on the Cures Act, ensuring your health care organization complies to the new law as of April 5, 2021.
Though the 21st Century Cures Act was originally passed in 2016, the final information blocking rule was not implemented until May 2020. The goal of the Cures Act is to improve the exchange of electronic health records (EHRs) for health care providers.
The act also allows access to data for patients and authorized entities, effectively preventing information blocking. Indeed, the act places a prohibition on information blocking and introduces penalties for doing so.
In response to these new laws regarding information blocking, the NSCHBC has released a recorded webinar on identifying information blocking and tips for compliance. The presentation was hosted by Amanda Waesch and Jeanna Singleton, attorneys from Brennan Manna Diamond law firm.
In this presentation, Waesch and Singleton provide a detailed outline of the new rules that you must follow by April 5, 2021. The attorneys also address common questions, examples of information blocking and recommendations for compliance.
The presentation recommends that you identify a compliance officer within your health care organization. This individual will have responsibility to ensure information blocking compliance. The webinar also recommends that your organization takes the time to understand how the new laws will affect their work.
Besides the 21st Century Cures Act webinar, the NSCHBC also provides you valuable information regarding the changing business of health care. For example, the organization’s website has multiple conference and workshop videos on topics ranging from marketing best practices and managing change.
This latest release is in line with the NSCHBC’s commitment to providing health care providers with the education and tools necessary to navigate the industry.
A spokesperson said: “It is vital that providers understand the 21st Century Cures Act and recent information blocking rules to ensure full compliance. We are confident that our new webinar will help providers navigate these new rules.”
