Olympus Corporation, the Japanese manufacturer of compact digital cameras and a designer of Four-Thirds System standard for digital single-lens reflex cameras, has announced the release of updates for its OM-D E-M1 Mark II, OM-D E-M5 Mark II, and Pen-F digital cameras. All updates include a new Bleach Bypass Art Filter and added support for Panasonic Leica 200mm F2.8 OIS lens.
The list of new powerful updates for the various OM-D and Pen camera models is quite rich, introducing many new improvements to the interchangeable lens camera.
According to a press release published on Feb 28, 2018, on the official company website, (getolympus.com/firmware), the update for the OM-D Mark II models is the Firmware Version 2.0. Some of the new or updated features are lag-free shooting, a new display icon for Pro Capture Mode, small AF target setting feature, in-body fisheye correction, and a flicker scan function. In addition to that, the Firmware Version 2.0 update fine-tunes the remaining battery level icon and adds a 100% magnification option in image playback.
Olympus says that users will be able to enjoy improved back-button focus AF settings with AEL/AFL button, tethered shooting responsiveness and stability using Olympus Capture and an improved C-AF performance.
The OM-D E-M5 II models, on the other hand, can be updated with Firmware 4.0. It allows users to add an in-camera focus stacking function to an OM-D E-M5 to support a total of eight lenses when capturing images. The Firmware 4.0 update also improves the compatibility with Panasonic Leica DG Elmarit 200mm/F2.8/Power lens and the bleach bypass art filter feature with which users can develop film creating images with a beautiful metallic sheen.
The Firmware Version 3.0 update for the PEN-F digital cameras adds the ability to save monochrome and color profile control setting onto the camera via a computer. Moreover, shading effects feature in Monochrome Profile control and Color Creator is also part of the list of improvements for the Pen-F cameras.
